Coach Lauren Spinka - Varsity Women's Coach
email: Lauren.Spinka@gmail.com
phone: 813-205-0090

Lauren began her rowing career in 2002 at H.B. Plant High School. There, she raced in the first boat out of the Plant boathouse to qualify to the Youth National Championships.

Before returning to coach at her alma mater in Fall 2011, Lauren coached the University of Florida’s women’s team. For the first time in well over a decade, the women qualified to race in the Grand Final at Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships, the only club team to do so that year. The freshman followed in the steps of the Varsity, making the Grand Final at SIRA, and medaling at States. While coaching at UF, Lauren earned her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, specializing in the study of Fitness and Wellness.

After graduating from UF, Lauren began coaching at Nova Southeastern University. There, her two freshman eights took first and second at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Fall Championship, and went on to a second place medal at SIRA. Later that season, the varsity boats won the Conference Championship, and earned a bid to the NCAA Championship. At NCAA’s in Sacramento, the team placed 4th overall.

Coach Spinka is certified as a Level II Coach with US Rowing.
