Welcome New Parents

Do you feel like a 'fish out of water'? Don't worry, you are in good company. Relax and rest assured that both you and your new rower will get up to speed little by little throughout the school year. Don't be afraid to ask questions of veteran parents...they remember how it feels to walk in your (newbie) shoes. Grab them at practice pick up or a monthly Parent-Athlete Meeting, or email one of the Board Members, Committee Chairs or Coaches. No question is too elementary!

What is an erg? An erg time? A sprint? A head race? The Hooch? The Halloween Regatta? Palm River? Winter Park? Southern Sprints? The Bypass Canal? TBCRC? SWFWMD? PRing? OARS? Shore Patrol? Development Camp? Learn to Row Camp? A rigger? An eight? A four? Feathering? A coxswain? Stroke? Catching a crab?

As a way of saying welcome, we are providing you with an introduction to being a parent or athlete with Plant High Rowing Association. Whereas the Handbook won’t answer all of your questions, hopefully it will help give you more insight in to PHRA and Plant Crew.

The best way to learn more of the details is to jump aboard the ship, join a committee and/or sign up for Shore Patrol. Become one of the many volunteers who help support our coaches and athletes.
