Plant Crews Advance to Grand Finals at SRAA Scholastic National Championship
The shoreline on Cooper River was packed as parents, coaches, and athletes rallied around their teams at the 2012 Scholastic Rowing Athletic Association's National Championship Regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. An honor to even qualify for the championship, Plant crews performed well in all heats, highlighted by the Women's Freshman Varsity 8+ and Women's Second Varsity 8+ which both advanced to the Grand Finals. While the Second Varsity Women's 8+ finished as the nation's 6th fastest 2V8+, Plant's Frosh Women's 8+ missed the medal stand by less than 0.5 seconds to rank as the nation's fourth fastest freshman crew. Strong Performance at Southern Sprints
On Saturday February 4th, 48 of Plant High Rowing's athletes competed in the 29th Annual Southern Indoor Sprints
in Melbourne. While it was not a race on the water, it was still a great season opener for PHRA. There was stiff
competition with some of the events having more than 150 athletes going head to head. Close to 90% of the athletes pulled a
season best time at the race. PHRA’s strong showing was enough to secure a 2nd Place Scholastic finish overall.
